Well,it is mostly one god - Ganesha - because this photo relates to Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of the elephant-faced god. When there was a surge in demand for Ganesh idols. These ones were displayed on pavement in a Mysore market street, Kalidasa Rs., I guess. The only other God on show is Shiva, Ganesha's father. Ganesh Chaturthi 2011 comes on Sept.1

ReplyDeleteI love this god, Ganesha, for his oolor and, of course, I like it that he resembles an elephant, my favorite creatures. I would like to visit that elephant festival in Rajasthan where they are so gaily painted.
