Well,it is mostly one god - Ganesha - because this photo relates to Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of the elephant-faced god. When there was a surge in demand for Ganesh idols. These ones were displayed on pavement in a Mysore market street, Kalidasa Rs., I guess. The only other God on show is Shiva, Ganesha's father. Ganesh Chaturthi 2011 comes on Sept.1My World and Ruby Tuesday post this week.

ReplyDeleteI love this god, Ganesha, for his oolor and, of course, I like it that he resembles an elephant, my favorite creatures. I would like to visit that elephant festival in Rajasthan where they are so gaily painted.
