Mobilizing the faithful

The billboard at a road junction in Mysore speaks of ISKCON's event management resources, including expensive advertisement announcing a religious occasion . Not many temple trustees or their patrons think of, or can afford such high-power marketing.

Public restroom

My post this week - writings on the wall of a rest room in Mysore - was inspired by Frankly My Dear - bilingual signposts from Cairo and Bangladesh. Even if we can't read the text we get the picture, don't we.

Health insurance

It's location on a city high street is such that you can't miss this ad., though for the dim-witted like me, it took a few moments to get the sense of it. Found this on the side wall of a tall building in San Francisco, during our visit there a few years back.

Our Apartment complex

A massive signboard has come up on top end of our 12-floor apartment complex in Chennai. We are among the first few residents who have moved in at Mantri Synergy, a nine-block residential complex. Work is still in progress and it would two to three months for all 700 odd families to move in.

Offending posters

Political parties have scant regard for social norms/nicety when it comes to misuse of public space. That's how it is in a functioning democracy, which, it appears, functions mainly for politicians and their parties. The photo was taken at a prime road junction in the Mysore University complex.

A Mysore bazar

The clutter of signboards reflects the profile of the goods and services on offer at this market street close to the inter-city bus station in Mysore. Kannada is the preferred medium for signboards.

Sign-bearing trees

Prompted by blogger ewok1993 who has posted a signboard that speaks for a tree I retrieved from my collection following photos with signs on trees. Took these photos on Mysore University campus.

Orange plus

I can't figure out the connection between this signboard and the used cars lot it advertises. But then the colours and the design are so appealing that anyone who casts his/her eyes on this board is likely to get curious about what this is all about. And then, on finding out, wonder what used cars have to do with orange. Incidentally, this used cars lot ruins the look of our apartments block, viewed from Ramavilas Road, Mysore.

Unusual, isn't this ?

Found this post-box, nailed to a tree at Somanathapura, Karnataka. And thought it could fit in with this Thursday's Alphabe - U (U for unusual).

'Wanted' notice

Nailed to a tree outside a college campus in Mysore, I couldn't figure out what/who is it that the advertiser wants, part-time or full-time.
