Cow & cattle

The cow isn't just another toy ornamenting living space. It is an animal that is worshipped by The Hindus. But then in Chennai we see them in hordes straying into the high street in front our apartments complex. The owners let the animals loose after milking them in the morning.  The cattle roam the streets through the day and return home to their owners, by sundown. The YouTube shows the cattle making their way back home

A look-in

This guy looks in through our car window hoping for some eats. Stray cows are not an uncommon sight in our part of the world. They are accustomed to being fed by residents as they work the street - with kitchen waste, bread crumbs, left-over dinner, fruits, vegetable, anything edible.
We met this cow at the parking lot near Chamundi Temple , Mysore. She apparently had no luck with the car parked next to ours, with closed window.

Holy cow

Yellow isn't their natural colour. They were smeared with turmeric paste and given a wash on Sankaranthi day, a Hindu festive occasion when cows are worshiped . I found these animals roaming my neighbourhood in Mysore.
