Reflections on the pool of Udupi Krishna temple in Karnataka. It was early morning, sky was overcast and the sun hadn't yet made up its mind to shine over the shrine this morning.

Getting dolled up
K R Circle is a prime landmark in Mysore. And I took these early morning shots in November last when the city was getting dolled up. Can't recall the occasion, though.

A Mysore bazar
The clutter of signboards reflects the profile of the goods and services on offer at this market street close to the inter-city bus station in Mysore. Kannada is the preferred medium for signboards.

A red lineup
Public transport buses, requisitioned by the election authorities, are lined up on a school campus in Mysore, where the staff assigned to polling booths in various parts of the district assembled to be taken to their designated booths. Took this photo during the Karnataka panchayat elections some months back.

Resident monkey
This chap on the front gate was a monkey in residence in our Mysore apartment complex. And he isn't half as innocent as he looks. When these guys gang up and move about in the complex they were a menace to residents. You got to be on guard carrying a shopping bag with fruits, bread or other edibles monkeys fancy. We don't have such menace in our place in Chennai, where we moved in recently. But I do, at times, miss the antics of our Mysore monkeys.

Flogging brooms
A brooms seller sets up shop amid the dust and squalor of the farmers market in Mysore. Fruits and vegetable growers from villages around the city bring their produce here for sale. I took this photo when my wife and I joined a photowalk organised by camera enthusiast Kiran Ravikumar and his young friends.

We have moved in to Padur outskirts of Chennai. And from our 9th floor flat this is what I saw at the crack of dawn.

Sign-bearing trees
Prompted by blogger ewok1993 who has posted a signboard that speaks for a tree I retrieved from my collection following photos with signs on trees. Took these photos on Mysore University campus.

Lakeview
From their condition one can see these boats are not used much. In fact, Kukkrehalli Lake isn't a favourite for boating enthusiasts. The Mysore University which maintains the lake uses it for training NCC cadets.

Selfless soul
He is an ordinary person with a mission extraordinary. A retired govt. official K R Gurukar has passion for planting saplings on city sidewalks. He has been doing it on a daily basis for the last decade or more. He plants honge, a species suited to Mysore. Goats and stray cows don't fancy honge leaves, he says.

The shutter is blue
Dedicated Blue Monday bloggers may find their preferred colour taking a backseat here. Eye-stealer in the shot is coloured yellow. Took this photo at K R Circle during the last Dasara, an annual festival of which we in Mysore make a big deal. The festival stretches for 10 days during which the entire city is lit up. There are daily concerts held on the Palace grounds. A colourful procession through the town marks the end of Dasara festival.

Backyard bonfire
Took this shot from third-floor window of our apartments complex in Mysore. We had a power shutdown, and all that could be seen in the darkness outside was this bonfire of a heap of dry leaves.

College campus
A scenic and shadow shot for this Sunday came straight out of my camera. During our morning walk on the Maharaja's College campus, Mysore.

First of the month - April
Flower sellers setting up shop on a pavement spread on Dewan's Rd.,Mysore. My first entry on this meme, this would be our last April in Mysore , where we have spent the last six years. My wife and I are shifting base to Chennai later this month.

A look-in
This guy looks in through our car window hoping for some eats. Stray cows are not an uncommon sight in our part of the world. They are accustomed to being fed by residents as they work the street - with kitchen waste, bread crumbs, left-over dinner, fruits, vegetable, anything edible.
We met this cow at the parking lot near Chamundi Temple , Mysore. She apparently had no luck with the car parked next to ours, with closed window.

Household fuel
Solar water heaters co-exist with traditional boilers fed on shredded coconut shell in my town. A van offloads home-delivered fuel shell on Narayana Shastri Rd., Mysore.
